Radi

Senegal

For the first two HEMA collections, Return to Sender bought baskets from a group of women from a rural village at a two-hours' drive from Dakar, Senegal. After their daily work on the land, these women make some extra money by weaving grass baskets. Many of them are illiterate and only speak the local language. This is one of the reasons why the women are not very familiar with the market and have difficulty organising.

Return to Sender supports a project by Radi, a local organisation that focuses on teaching these women to read and write, as well as to do business.
